Apricus 60/120 System includes (preheat configuration)

2 - AP 30 – 30 Tube collector

1 – 120 Gal single coil tank

5 Gal pail of concentrated heat transfer fluid

1 – Air Vent

$ 10,500.00 plus installation (see below)

Installation for the systems will vary with the house and amount of work in integrating into the present system. These preheat systems are the easiest to integrate as they are installed so that the incoming water is preheated in the supplied tank. It would also be wise to install a heat dissipater for those times when very little water is used such as vacation times.Installation for the above systems will be very similar – about $ 3,500.00 to $ 6,000.00. The larger the system, the more cost effective the installation since a lot of the installation costs are related to the piping and mechanical room work. The amount of this work is the same for 1 or 2 collectors.

Apricus Heating Systems

  • Apricus 30 tube collectors @ $2,200.00 each depending on angle of Frame
  • Generally will be used with a boiler and 1 or 2 double coil tanks
  • Other System requirements are

Pump station Delta T controller Pipe from Collectors Insulation for pipe Diversion dump load Glycol

    Back up power system

  • This is a more cost effective use since, generally speaking, the infrastructure costs i.e. controller, pipe, insulation, diversion dump load are similar in single collectors up to about 8 collectors.
  • Figure that the cost will likely be about double the cost of the collectors or more depending on where they are mounted

These systems require very little maintenance. It is essentially the same as any normal boiler type systems and relates to checking the heat transfer fluid and replacing it every 4 to 5 years.

Complete home heating is costly, a quick guide is take the Sq are feet of the house divide by 100 and that is roughly how many collectors you will need, the cost of installation and depending on the size of TES it will double or triple the cost of the collectors by the time it is installed.

EG: Average build 2600 square foot home, equals 26 collectors (Actualy anywhere from 12 to 30 depending on the construction)

26 collectors at $2,200.00 each will cost about $57,000, times 2 or three will bring a complete system in at $100,000 to $150,000.

This example underlines the importance of the building efficiency with the high cost of renewable energy system in mind, and understandably this is why most people will Augment conventional heating with solar to a greater or lesser degree.

It is also a very good idea to have a battery backup system to keep the system going in case of power failure and keep the system from stagnating and over heating.
